Hardware

Hardware for The X10/Lighting Factory
Required:
Serial Adapter for TW523
Two Way X10 Interface (TW523)
OR
Firecracker

Optional:
WallSwitch Keypad
Standard X10 Wall SW (Incandesent Only!)
Cheap and ugly Wall SW
Motion Sensor
Remote and Wireless Receiver
Wireless Wall SW
Standard Lamp Module (dimming)
Standard Appliance Modules (non-dimming)

For the LightingFactory you will need the TW523 and the TwoWay serial Adapter. This will allow the X10Factory to send and receive X10 signals from your home's powerline. The Firecracker wireless interface is also supported, however it cannot "hear" X10 signals on the line so you cannot use the standard X10 input devices to control the HomeAuto System.

To control the lights and lighting scenes you will want several X10 Keypads located in strategic locations. The 12073 Series have 6 or 8 buttons and wire in place of a normal light switch; They will control one normal incandessent lamp and cost ~$90. The 4000 package will give you a wireless receiver (very useful!) and a 16 button remote control. The 4095 Wireless Switch is a flat stick on wireless X10 switch with 4 buttons. This is the best option for adding a light switch anywhere.

I tend to buy from smarthome.com, however ASIhome.com occasionly has good deals. I avoid X10.com where possible because of their annoying advertising, YMMV.
