Use Cases

Wakeup scenario
user configures system to wake them up in the morning. First the user want the radio to go on 30min to 1 hr before they have to get out of bed. When it is time to get out of bed, the bedroom light comes on.

At that point the system tells the person the weather, any important appointment reminders the person has set, and any Pre-Market-Indicators and Eurpoean indexes.

On weekends, the system is set to go off at a different time, and would not include the stock reports. The user could also voice set the system to wake him up X hours later, rather than at a specified time.

Security System
User leaves for work in the morning by announcing "Computer: Away Mode". This set the security system to on. A camera is mounted looking at the door. If the door is opened (via switch sensors) the image in the doorway is emailed to the user's work account, and a text message is sent to their cell phone.

The system also notifies the intruder that his picture has been taken and to depart the premises immediatly. The user can remotly set off the siern if the person is an intruder and not a maintiance person or relative.

Any attempt to open a window would result in an siern going off.

Upon arriving home the user can disarm the system with a keypad mounted just inside the door.

Home Entertainment Control
The user is sitting on a couch watching TV, and the phone rings. Instead of fumbling for the remote, the user can issue a command such as "Computer: mute" and the system will issue the proper IR command to mute the TV (or stereo) volume. The user can also issue commands like:

"Computer: channel A and E" to be turned to the proper network. "Computer: play CD" or radio, MP3's etc to listen to music. others....

Traveling
If the user leaves home and forgets to turn out the lights, he can use a Palm 7 device to control the lights and IR applicances in the house.
